(1) Install Active-X under Windows NT first then install as usual. This only works for Hannibal, Caesar & Alexander detect a non-Windows 95/98 OS and fail at install.
Have you got the game running under any of the above OS problem areas ? Can you please tell me how you achieved this
The Great Battles series of games were originally written to run under Windows 95 and Windows 98. However since then there have been a number of further incarnations of Windows and not all of these have been fully compatible with the games.
I have tried here to keep a note of the compatibility between the various versions of the Windows Operating System and the Great Battles games.
It should also be noted that even in valid Operating System versions there may be many differences between the way systems are set up so this table just indicates whether or not the Great Battles games can be made to work under that Operating System. There may be other reasons why it won't work under your particular configuration.

(2) There are still some issues running the game under any OS - the scenario editor crashes when opening the Unit Editor - New revised version now available
(3) To ensure the game works, you need to copy all the files in the system directory on the game CD to the c:\windows\system32 directory in XP - see below for full details. See also additional details...
I've listed here the system files used in Great Battles and the files you should ensure you have copied into the c:\windows\system32 directory when using Windows XP.
